After a long and exhausting day, I love snuggling up into bed and dozing off to sleep. Mainly because going to sleep is like taking a time machine to breakfast. The sooner I go to sleep, the sooner I get to wake up and eat breakfast. So I think it’s needless to say that I love eating breakfast even more than I love sleeping.

In fact, all of my favorite foods are breakfast related: muffins, eggs, and bagels- to name a few. If given the choice between exclusively eating breakfast, lunch or dinner for the rest of my life, I would choose breakfast. Hands down. Clearly, I think breakfast is the most delicious meal of the day, but it’s common knowledge that it’s the most important meal of the day as well. For instance, eating a healthy and filling breakfast in the morning can prevent you from overeating during other times of the day.

One of my favorite things to make for breakfast is toast. But I never use boring toppings like butter or jam. I try my best to use unique ingredients that satisfy my cravings, whether savory or sweet. Most importantly, I make sure to incorporate nutritious ingredients that give me the boost I need to conquer the day.

Without further ado, here are four of my favorite healthy toasts to make in the morning, ranging from savory to sweet.

1. Avocado-licious Toast
I know, I know. Avocado toast…so original. You may have already experienced this wonderful creation, but I wanted to mention it in this post because it truly is one of my favorite things to have for breakfast. The smooth texture of the avocado juxtaposed with the crunch from the toast is godly. Not to mention how the runny egg yolk coats the avocado beautifully. Ugh, I just love having this for breakfast.
Here’s how to make it:
Start with the bread of your choice. Rye, wheat, white. Your call.
Toast the bread!
Slice up an avocado and place it on top of your toast.
Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper.
Now, prepare your egg. I prefer mine over-easy so that the yolk is still runny.
Gently place your egg on the avo-toast tower.
Ta-da! You have Avocado Toast.
2. Strawberry Nutella Cheesecake Toast
I have my share of mornings in which all I want to eat is a piece of cake. I have such a sweet tooth, it gets out of control sometimes. Obviously, eating cake for breakfast isn’t the best decision I can make for my health, so I decided to come up with a breakfast toast that was sweet enough to satisfy any dessert lover.
Here’s how to make it:
Toast your bread of choice.
Spread an even layer of cream cheese onto the toast.
Dice up a couple strawberries and lay them on the cream cheese.
Take the Nutella and drizzle it all over.
Sprinkle on some almonds. (Optional)
3. Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Toast
There is no better combination than chocolate and peanut butter. It’s a fact. Not using these two ingredients to make a breakfast toast would be insane. Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Toast is one of my favorite things to eat in the morning. I always have the ingredients in my kitchen and it goes perfectly with my morning cup of coffee. This breakfast is an easy 10/10.
Here’s how to make it:
Toast your bread.
Spread and even layer of peanut butter on your toast.
Dice up a couple bananas and place on top of the peanut butter.
Take chocolate chips and sprinkle on top as well.
Dust some cocoa powder as a final touch.
4. Yummy Hummus Toast
I absolutely love hummus. You can practically spread hummus onto anything and it’ll taste good. Carrots, bread, chicken wings, you name it. I make this breakfast when I’m craving something extra savory… and a little spicy too.
Here’s how to make it:
Toast your bread.
Spread a generous amount of hummus onto your toast.
Dice up some cucumbers and place them on the toast.
Sprinkle on some salt and pepper.
Drizzle on your favorite hot sauce- I used Sriracha.
I hope you all give these four fantastic breakfast creations a try! I promise you won’t be disappointed!
